Top 3 Photography Locations in Boise, Idaho
The Treasure Valley has so much to offer. From hiking to snowboarding, living in an area with all four seasons really has it’s perks. As a photographer, we really have the whole valley as our play ground. If you’re new to the area or want some fresh ideas for your sessions, keep reading for some of my favorite photography locations here in Boise.
The Military Reserve by far offers the most variety out of any location in the Treasure Valley. You can head virtually any direction and find something beautiful to choose from! A short hike up the foothills yields gorgeous views of both downtown Boise and Bogus Basin. Follow the paved path and find the perfect shaded areas with tall birch trees and serene water. You can even park along side the road and walk not even 5 steps and shoot in gorgeous fields of tall grass with the hills as a backdrop. This location seriously has so much to offer and is stunning year round.
2. Boise River in Eagle
Okay, okay, I know. Not technically in Boise, but it’s a short drive away and absolutely worth it. Right behind Two Rivers Salon & Spa, this location is a mecca of peace and tranquility, with amazing views to boot. There are fallen trees that make the perfect seating for clients that rather not get too dirty and shallow river banks for the cutest candid family photos. Pretty much a quintessential Boise spot that evokes the true enticement of the greenbelt and sunny river days.
3. Hulls Gulch
Tucked back in the Boise foothills is one of my top favorite locations! From the Hulls Gulch Trailhead parking lot you can follow the pathway either direction and find two totally different scenes. If you go to the right you will find lush, overgrown pathways along with fallen logs for seating, sage brush galore and all the native nature beauty that Boise has to offer. If you choose to go left, you will find an open field backed by mature trees that makes for the perfect area spring or fall. You can’t go wrong with either spot!
I hope this encourages you to get out there and shoot. Boise truly has so much to offer to photographers. Never stop exploring! If you ever want to sharpen your photography skills you can always reach out for a mentor session with me or download the Mastering Manual guide. Happy shooting, friends!
